Weekend Round Up

Happy Monday!! We had a very busy weekend so let me jump right in!

Friday: After Tommy took Layla home, Ben and I went out to dinner. After dinner we went by Home Depot for paint and a new kitchen faucet.

Saturday: We slept in, then I got started on Layla's room while Ben got started on the faucet.

Layla's room paint (Tinkerbell), this photo reminds me of the 80's. The color is bright... I am on the fence about it but Ben and Layla love it. I'm hoping the big white tree I paint on the wall is going to help break it up. I tried to get pictures of the room done, but for some reason they all showed up with white looking walls and it's definitely not white. I'll try again tonight with a different camera. Once I got the first coat done I started sanding these:
Here they are all Spackled! Sanding went really fast (while Ben ran back to Home Depot because we bought the wrong kind of faucet) cleaning up all the dust was another story. I think I will be dusting it off of stuff for quite awhile. After that I did the second coat of paint on Layla's room and Ben did the second coat on the trim. Then we quickly got ready and headed to a bar for a birthday party.

Sunday: We got up fairly early and headed to Wal Mart because Ben didn't find a faucet he like Saturday. We actually found we liked for $55.00! Then a quick stop at Target and home in time to meet my Mom to get Layla! My Mom was going to JC Penny's so decided to tag along. Which ended up being a great idea! We stopped by Goodwill and I found a cute little table for $7.99 and at JC Penny's I found 2 pairs of shoes, a new purse, a pair of jeans for Ben and a shirt and a Tinkerbell placement for Layla! I love shopping!
My new purse, sitting on my desk at work. Ahh Houndstooth! Once I got home I cleaned and we moved the playroom around. Ben's enormous piano was in a bad place and the room just needed to be switched. It feels much better now!

This week is all about the stairs! They need a quick sweep tonight and then I can start painting them!!!

FRIDAY!!!

Another weekend! I am excited for this one! My step dad Tommy (Layla's Papa) is working in town today and is going to take the Princess home with him tonight. Tomorrow we are painting her room! I decided on Tinkerbell Green. Green was my first thought and I keep having visions of green, light pink and pearly white. I posted on my Facebook that I was looking for someone to paint a large tree on one of her walls. I'm sure I could do it but having someone who knew what they were doing would be better. Anyways no one thought they could do it but I had a great suggestion to contact our local high school and see if an art student would be interested. I sent an email yesterday, so we will see.

Here's are my two Thrift Store finds from last Saturday when my Mom and I went. I am thinking of painting the lamp ($2.99) or leaving it and putting it in my guest room.

This is my little vase thing (.99 cents) that I put in the dishwasher and it ate all the pretty blue flowers off. I still really like it though!

Have a fantastic weekend!!!! (Still working on the stairs, hoping to get a lot done this weekend!)

No turning back now...

Snow Day!

We have been hit by a pretty big snow storm! Layla's school is closed today so Mom got the day off! It really doesn't look that bad out there. (Saying that from home in my pj's). Here's our back yard a few minutes ago:

So Layla and I have big plans to play today! During nap time I am going to rip the carpet up on our stairs. It's gross, our house was built in 1979 and it still has the original carpet in it. Agh that's gross to think about. Laminate floors are in our future but not our immediate future and since I hate vacuuming the stairs and they seem to be the worse I am tackling them! Here are my before pictures, wow they look really bad.

This is looking down from the living room.
And this is the second set, going into the basement. Yuck! Rhoda at Southern Hospitality did this Amazing stair re-do that convinced me to whip our gross stairs into gear!

I'll post durings, tears and afters. Have a great Thursday!!

Weekend & Random

I was lucky enough to have a 4 day weekend! Ben took Friday off and we took Layla down to Mobius (A children's museum, providing a safe, nurturing place for young children and their families to learn and grow through hands-on activities in the arts, culture and science.) We've never been before but had heard great things about it, well we are now HOOKED and planning on buying a season pass! It was great! Layla had a ton of fun! Here's 2 blurry pictures of it! (She was running around like crazy)

Layla & Daddy making something!

Chilling in a canoe! We played for quite awhile then it was breakdown mode when we left.
:( Poor toddler!

Saturday, I went Thrifting with my Mom. I didn't find much, a mirror for Layla's big girl room and a white vase thing with blue flowers on it. But when I washed it in the dishwasher my dishwasher ate the flowers off it.

Sunday... We went grocery shopping... I think that's about it.

Monday: Layla and I went out to Aprill's so the girls could play. Then we came home and lil Miss decided not to nap... So as I mentioned yesterday, we went to Home Depot and another thrift store then home to make dinner.

This was Layla on the way home from school yesterday. She kept saying "it's really REALLY Sunny out today Mommy!" (Yes, I took this while sitting at a stop light..)

After the kiddo went to bed last night I made two little pillows!
They are little and a little lumpy.... I'll have to fix that. And I need about 3 more to make my bed look compete.

Last week when Bren was here she bought me this cute flower pot it was blooming so pretty this morning so I snapped a few pictures!

.
This one smells amazing!!!!!

More Layla's Room

Yesterday Layla and I ran to Home Depot to pick out paint colors for her room. I'm raising this girl right because just like me this is one of her favorite things to do! So Layla grabbed like 85 colors and I grabbed around 8 all of them from the Disney by Behr line. After hanging all the colors on the wall I quickly narrowed it down to 3. Two blues and a green, here they are on the wall:

Blustery Day (top) & Biddidi Bobbidi Blue (bottom)

Tinkerbell Green (the bottom green)

Here are the colors from the Behr website.

I am going to leave the colors up until the weekend and then make a decision. Right now I'm leaning towards Tinkerbell who also happens to be Layla's favorite!

Weekend Round Up

Here's my weekend round up, on Wednesday! My Dad and Bren are in town so we were pretty busy this last weekend. Saturday we went to breakfast at one of our favorite places Perry St. Cafe:

We made a stop at newer thrift type store and I found a twin bed for Layla:

Apparently this bed was in high demand! I talked the lady down $10.00 ($45.00 total) and then said I'd think about it, when I went back to buy it she said 1 person had stopped by and asked about it. Another lady was there and stood there while I bought it in case I changed my mind and while making arrangements to pick it up another couple walked in and asked about it! I'm hoping having this will motivate me to get started on her big girl room!

After that we took Layla and Ben home and headed back into town to go shopping for a bbq and to pick up my older brother, Eddie. Eddie was eating so we stopped into a dive bar and saw this picture:

Cracked me up! No I did not write "Hey it's Ben" on it. Saturday evening we had a bunch of people over for a bbq. I was running around and didn't take a single picture...

And then on Sunday we took Layla to Manito Park and let her play on the ice.... She seemed to enjoy it anyways.

Empty Frames

Just a quick post today, since I am home with my family! I think I have finally finished my empty frame wall in our master bedroom! Take a look, all the frames are from thrift stores except one is from the dollar store.

It looks more centered in real life. What does everyone do with the freaking cords from their wall mounted tv?

New things!

Happy Friday!!! Here are a few new things I've picked up this week:

New knobs for my family room coffee table.

Elmer helping :)
I bought this table at Goodwill about a year ago. The two little windows where you see the fabric had actual windows there but one was broken and it was missing a knob. It was $1.99! I had plans for it to be a patio coffee table which it was for a few months then it moved inside when we bought the new house. So far I've painted it black, brown and now white. I think I might go back over it with more of antique white though...

A few weeks ago I was vacuuming and broke our vacuum. I was a little ticked. But then we started looking at vacuums and realized we’ve had our little cheap one for 7 years?! So off to Sears we went and ending up coming home with this little beauty.

Inspiration for Layla's Room

I have been scouring the internet looking for inspiration for Layla's room. We haven't done much in her room since we moved in May. Eventually Layla and baby #2 will share this room so I want something neutral, I'm thinking green or blue. Anyways here's some inspiration I've saved.
