Weekend Update

Just a day late, no big deal!

I am flipping exhausted lately! Both Friday and Saturday night I was in bed and passed out by 9pm. Yeah, I'm super cool.

Saturday morning we got up and out of the house early to go pick up our Co Op Veggies. Do you do anything like this? This is only the second time we've done it, the last time was in August and I feel like we got more for our money then. But it is Winter in the Northwest so I can guess that fruits and veggies are hard to come by. Anyways, I found this website Bountiful Baskets through my friend Jen. They do these all over the country so if your looking for something like this, check our the website. A little info about it:

BBFC is a group of people who work together for mutual benefit. This is a grassroots, all volunteer, no contracts, no catch co-operative. Since there are no employees at Bountiful Baskets, we as a group pay rock bottom prices on your food. This also means the co-op would not happen without volunteers. Each week different items will be in the Bountiful Basket! We base the basket contents on what is in season, high quality, good value, and local. 50% Fruit, 50% Vegetables & 100% healthy & delicious!
This is what was in our "basket" this week! I need to figure out something to do with those monster yams.

After picking up our Veggies we were already in town so we went to breakfast and shopping. Perfect Saturday!

Sunday was nice and easy. We set up Jack's Pack n Play, cleaned house and just hung out together. Before the Super Bowl started I went down to my Brother's house for a little bit, but was home in time to watch the half time show. Which I thought Bey rocked!
Random pictures from the rest of our weekend. I'm trying to turn our VERY Pink swing into something Jack won't be embarrassed to swing in. Cause you know newborns care about that kind of thing. Layla growling at me, she was a Dino. Next row, our early morning trip to our Fav Coffee Stand Sunday morning. I had a craving for some of my Great Grandma's biscuits! Oh they were good! And Jack's pack n play!

Now it's another work week, blah. But as of today I only have 17 more work days until my due date! Hell yeah!

Weekend!!!

Some of the decorations I made for my Baby Shower...

And yes, it's true we finally have a name! We've actually had it for about 5 weeks or so...

JACK EDWARD!

Yeah his initials will be J.E.M. But he will be Truly Outrageous! So it's ok! This was the hardest decisions I have ever had. It finally came down to it being the only name we could agree on. But after using it for weeks it really feels right.

I like how Jack’s are almost always the good guys in movies and books. We are also pretty big Lost fans. Edward is after my big brother, Edward James (although he goes by Eddie). It just feels like a strong normal name.

The baby shower went off great! A lot of friends and loved ones. Really good food and cake!

The rest of my weekend was pretty chill. We had breakfast out, did a little shopping and finalized the last few things we needed for Jack to make his arrival. I now can have him and he has somewhere to sleep!

More pic's from the weekend:
I finally got a baby book for Jack. I don't care for Peter Rabbit, but this was the only one I could find that wasn't covered in pink and purple.

Ben & Layla at breakfast. I had to make the picture fuzzy cause the guy with the arrow above his head was so creepy looking! Kind of like death...

My nails, I did for the shower.

& baby Boy's name on the chalkboard wall.

Have a great week!!!

Weekend!

We had the best weekend! It was the perfect blend of relaxing and fun! Friday night we relaxed and watched Water for Elephants, yeah it’s been years since it came out but I hadn’t seen it yet. Pretty good! Saturday we went shopping then popped up this beast and cleaned him out!
I love this trailer so much! Best $400 I’ve ever spent, we have the best time in it. We are going camping for Memorial Day and I might already have the entire menu planned and about 5 different lists going. Excited, much?

When the Princess got up from a nap we went for a hike at Bowl and Pitcher:

It was a perfect day for a hike; we had a lot of fun! After that we headed to a BBQ where we can some amazing Blue Cheese burgers! Played some darts and had a few bevys.
Sunday we headed out to my Moms for breakfast. My step dad Tommy makes the best breakfasts! When we got home we have an awesome surprise! My good friend Heidi was in town with her sweet little Allison! Heidi is married to one of my best friends in the whole world Keith; they live in the Seattle area so I hadn’t met Allison yet. Layla and I met them at Starbucks:

Seriously she is the sweetest baby!!! Layla looks like such a big kid next to her! And now it’s Monday again. Agh, back to the grind. It’s rainy and cold here today but fingers crossed it clears up for the weekend!

Thrift Store Finds

Saturday was a lot of fun! We discovered some new thrift stores but didn’t find much. I did take some pictures of quite of few things that I wanted but didn’t buy. First the two things I did buy:
A super fun handmade plate from Australia for a $1.

It’s hard to tell but the white area in the middle is like pressed with lace. It’s very pretty
I’m from middle California (Fresno) and spent a ton of time growing up at Yosemite. I picked up this Ansel Adams print of Half Dome and the Merced River for the guest room.
Fun fact in elementary school I did a report on John Muir; he helped save Yosemite and was a very big advocate for preserving forests in the US. Anyways I became slightly obsessed and read everything I could about him. He was an amazing adventurist.
And that’s all I bought. But two good purchases are better than a bunch of stuff I don’t need. Here’s a few things that caught my eye though
I really wanted this! I could see it painted and used as a coffee table in the family room. But I believe it was $70.00 and in rough shape.
Oh this matching set of chairs! Painted white and recovered in a fun fabric! They were $69.99 each.

This desk was just neat, nothing I needed but it completely folded into its self.

And another chair, I like that is was low profile but one of the arms was broken.

Weekend Round Up

This weekend…. Friday night we had some friends over for a nice round of Apples to Apples. I didn’t win. The house across the street from and to the left is for sale. I know the owners have moved out so late Friday night Becca & I snuck across the street and looked in the windows. Do you ever do this? It looks nice, a lot like our house but smaller.
Saturday I hung out with my Mom. We did a little shopping; I bought a dress for our upcoming trip to Portland. We never made it to the Falls, it was rainy and cold.
Sunday, we woke up to a beautiful day! We cleaned cars out, took a trip to the dump. Layla loves this, I don’t know why. It stinks! I finally found a pallet for my project. While the kiddo was napping Ben and I did some yard work, planted some blubs that we got in the Fall… Yeah I doubt we’ll see the flowers this year, but maybe next. When Layla woke up we went to the nearby elementary school, we played and rode bikes. It was the perfect Sunday! We finished the day with some yummy bbq’d steaks for dinner!
And here is the cutest video you will ever see! J Layla telling her favorite Knock Knock Joke.

Layla: Knock Knock
Me: Who's there
Layla: Smell Mop
Me: Smell Mop Who?
Layla: Disgusting! I don't want to smell poo!
Have a great week!!!

Finally Better!

After a full week of being sick, my little princess is finally better! Besides a nasty cough that she has now passed onto me. We had a very low key weekend. No crazy drunken St. Patty’s day for us. Saturday Layla and I went swimming at the YMCA with Jen and that was the most exciting thing we did. J
Here’s Layla feeling better and ready to go swimming!

Weekend Round Up

I got absolutely nothing accomplished this weekend. Saturday morning Layla woke up with a fever and an awful cough! Poor baby was feeling terrible. Ben’s co workers wife (got that?) came over to look at Elmer. She’s a vet and we’ve noticed this spot on his ear that he keeps messing with. Turns out my poor puppy has skin cancer. Agh talk about broken heart! Since it’s at a funny place on his ear, the back and close to his head removing it is not possible. BUT she gave us a bunch of stuff to keep it wrapped until it heals (right now it’s basically an open wound, cause Mister won’t leave it alone) and she doesn’t think it’s really going to affect him much. She was positive for a few more healthy years with him. He will from now on always have to be covered in baby sunscreen when he’s outside which we’ve done in the past but haven’t been be that great at. As I mentioned before I got Elmer when I was 19 so he’s very well known and loved in our circle of friends, right now we’re just kind of keeping this to ourselves. I don’t want to worry anyone and with his age (He’ll be 10 this summer) we figured a few more years was about all we had left.
So after all that we had an ER with the Princess. Hours later just to be told everything came back negative. Today though Ben took her to Urgent care and got a doctor that wanted to see her and figure shit out. Do you ever feel like with kids sometimes you get a real doctor and other times you get one who just thinks you’re an over concerned parent? Anyways little Miss Layla has viral pneumonia. Posting will be spotty this week as I get my little girl healthy.
Have a wonderful week!

Tuesday!

I am all alone in the office today, so this will be short and sweet! I had a wonderful 4 day weekend! Layla and I had a long visit with her favorite (& only) Uncle Eddie, Ben and I watched movies, a Ladies night Saturday, sleeping in on Sunday, finished the stairs on the Chevron wall, a big nap and some shopping!

Some positive words I added to our chalkboard wall yesterday:

Have a fab Tuesday!!!

A Wedding in the Snow!

Saturday our really good friends Rick and Jenn got married at Elkins Resort on Priest Lake. It was beautiful! And oh so cold but way more beautiful and fun! Saturday morning my Mom and Tom came by so Tom could finish my fireplace mantel! (YAY!!!) And so they could go shopping and watch Layla for the night. Around 11am Ben and I started the 2 hour trek to Priest Lake. This lake is amazing! Rumored to be so deep they’ve never found the bottom of it! Also rumored to have vacation homes to Tom Cruise and Ben Stein. Anyways it’s awesome!

The view at the lodge!
Once we got there we were happy to already see a lot of out friends out and about. We rented Cabin #4
·         3 Bedrooms: 3 Queen Beds, 1 Double Bed
  • Sleeps up to 8 people.
  • Creek side cabin
  • Fireplace
We shared the cabin with Becca, Toby, Russell and Joey. I literally walked in and my smile did not leave my face for days! It was so much fun! Once the rest of the group got there we started to pre funk and dance around the cabin!
The ceilings were SO short in this cabin! It was crazy! It made me feel tall!
The wedding was supposed to start at 4pm but really started around 5ish not a big deal at all. We were all having a great time! The wedding was so beautiful! I love it when the Groom cries; I think it is the sweetest thing! (Ben, for the record did not cry)
Lovely Bride!
After the wedding we enjoyed some amazing food and drinks, followed by some cabin hopping and a bon fire by the lake! An amazing night! A great little get away for everyone!

Lights @ Mainto

Friday night we went to Manito Park to see 30,000 lights! It was cool but left us wanting more. We thought the whole park was going to be covered with lights but they only had a green house that was decked out. It got us out of the 15 degree weather (holy burr) and we walked around some pretty lights:

(Excuse Layla's hair, it was up really cool before she went to school something must of happened to it though)

After that we drove down our Christmas Tree lane which... sucked! I thought it was a given that if you lived on a street called Christmas Tree Lane you had to go all out. Yeah not so much.  After that we went to dinner then home to clean. Saturday my Mom picked up Layla and Ben and I headed to Elkins Resort for a very beautiful winter wedding! More on that tomorrow…

Finally Friday!

What is this 3 posts in a week?! That’s pretty good! This weekend is going to be busy! I love how summers do that, every weekend is jam packed!
Tonight we are going out for Friday night dinner. Around 8 we have some our friends Adam and Sasha are coming over. We’re going to have a little couple’s game night. Saturday we hope to clean out some flower beds and plant a few seeds. (lol that sounds… interesting) at 2pm we have a 1st birthday party to go to! After that we have a Grad party to go too… I’m hoping we can make it to the grad party, but not holding my breath since two parties in one day is a lot for Ms. Layla. And then since 2 parties wasn’t enough Ben has a bachelor party to go to Saturday night.
Sunday is Father’s day! I’m going to let Ben sleep in and make him breakfast. Besides that a little grocery shopping and laundry is all that is on the list!
Enjoy the weekend! Hope it’s nice!!
And to end this post with a cool picture, Layla’s school had them draw themselves and then you could purchase the class pictures on different things. I got a mouse pad, here’s Layla’s self portrait.

Weekend Round Up with Cell Phone Pictures

Happy Tuesday! Here's our weekend round up!

Friday: Ben, Layla and I all had the day off! It was supposed to be a fun day of coloring Easter eggs, planting something and just hanging out! I had a great idea to run into town and get my hair done at 9am, I knew I wanted all over color so I didn't think it would take very long.... 5 hours later. Background: I get my very long hair done at a hair school. I used to have a regular hairdresser but she fell off the deep in and everyone else I tried charged me a ton because of the length of my hair. So hair school it is, they charge $32.00 for all over color and a cut. Normally it turns out great but this time they messed it up. I wanted a chestnut brownish color (I'm normally very blond) it ended up a orange/green mess!!! Luckily they always re do it for free, but to cover up the mess, I now have really dark hair. After that I went home and did what we were supposed to do, colored eggs and planted a tomato plant! Later I went and had some girl time at a PartyLite Party. And saw these in the catalog: So cute! $39.95... Partylite kills me! Way to expensive! But if you spend $40.00 you get 1 thing half off! Yeah, they always get me. And since I need a pair, I am now having a party to get the other one 60% off.

Saturday: Ben woke up not feeling well, we already had plans to go to an Easter Egg Hunt that our Realtor was putting on so Layla and I went by ourselves.

On the way there she's a goof!

Playing, her hair looks so cute! She never lets me do it!

Face Painting!! She sat so still!

Getting ready to get those eggs!!!

& on the way home, she had too much fun
It was such a great day! The weather was perfect and Layla had a lot of fun!

Sunday: The Easter Bunny Came!
We also went out to lunch with my parents. Then after a family wide nap we went and flew my Mom's Easter present to Layla, a kite! I don't think I have ever flown a kite before... I guess I was sheltered.

Daddy & Layla trying to figure it out

Layla watching it. She kept saying, It's so high Momma!!!

Busy weekend as always! This week my Grandma and Grandpa are driving up from CA to spend a few days with us! Can't wait! The last time they saw Layla was 2 years ago at Thanksgiving. Have a wonderful week!!!

Weekend Roundup

I haven’t been doing much around the house lately. Besides keeping it clean, I have just been hanging out. I think it’s the weather. Anyways here’s my uneventful weekend:
Friday: After work we met at home and then went to Super Cuts to get Layla’s bangs trimmed and Ben’s hair cut. Then we went to Red Robin for dinner and home since it was bath time. After the kiddo went to bed I laid on the couch and half way watched a movie with Ben.
Saturday: We got up fairly early and got ready for Layla’s pictures, she was a bear! But as soon as she got in front of the camera she turned the charm on and was a perfect little lady! After that we went home for nap time, and Ben and I worked in the yard. We have a bunch of pine trees in our yard so we raked a truck bed full of pine needles. (Look at the picture above, our house is surrounded by them) When Layla got up we went to Target and I bought a bunch of stuff we really didn’t need. Layla got a pillow pet! The Unicorn one. It’s so cute and so amazing soft!

Then we headed home and drove around our neighborhood for a bit. After Layla went to bed Ben went and got us two Red Box movies. How do you know and Cyrus. I did not like either of them and we only made it though about half of both of them. I did enjoy some freshly squeezed Greyhounds though!

Sunday: A usual Sunday for us, we went to lunch at Waddell’s (you might have caught this on Diners, Drive In’s and Dives a few weeks ago March 14th I think...) We’ve been there a bunch and are so excited they are now nationally known! They totally deserve it! (We have the episode saved since one of the guys Ben works with is in it!) Here’s a picture of him there:

Later we went grocery shopping and just hung out. I made a killer stew for dinner and we watched Despicable Me. Super cute movie! (We are a little behind on our movie watching). This coming weekend we are throwing around the idea of going to Missoula MT. for our 4th wedding anniversary (April 6th) but we haven't made a for sure decision yet.

Weekend Round Up

Happy Monday!! We had a very busy weekend so let me jump right in!

Friday: After Tommy took Layla home, Ben and I went out to dinner. After dinner we went by Home Depot for paint and a new kitchen faucet.

Saturday: We slept in, then I got started on Layla's room while Ben got started on the faucet.

Layla's room paint (Tinkerbell), this photo reminds me of the 80's. The color is bright... I am on the fence about it but Ben and Layla love it. I'm hoping the big white tree I paint on the wall is going to help break it up. I tried to get pictures of the room done, but for some reason they all showed up with white looking walls and it's definitely not white. I'll try again tonight with a different camera. Once I got the first coat done I started sanding these:
Here they are all Spackled! Sanding went really fast (while Ben ran back to Home Depot because we bought the wrong kind of faucet) cleaning up all the dust was another story. I think I will be dusting it off of stuff for quite awhile. After that I did the second coat of paint on Layla's room and Ben did the second coat on the trim. Then we quickly got ready and headed to a bar for a birthday party.

Sunday: We got up fairly early and headed to Wal Mart because Ben didn't find a faucet he like Saturday. We actually found we liked for $55.00! Then a quick stop at Target and home in time to meet my Mom to get Layla! My Mom was going to JC Penny's so decided to tag along. Which ended up being a great idea! We stopped by Goodwill and I found a cute little table for $7.99 and at JC Penny's I found 2 pairs of shoes, a new purse, a pair of jeans for Ben and a shirt and a Tinkerbell placement for Layla! I love shopping!
My new purse, sitting on my desk at work. Ahh Houndstooth! Once I got home I cleaned and we moved the playroom around. Ben's enormous piano was in a bad place and the room just needed to be switched. It feels much better now!

This week is all about the stairs! They need a quick sweep tonight and then I can start painting them!!!

Weekend & Random

I was lucky enough to have a 4 day weekend! Ben took Friday off and we took Layla down to Mobius (A children's museum, providing a safe, nurturing place for young children and their families to learn and grow through hands-on activities in the arts, culture and science.) We've never been before but had heard great things about it, well we are now HOOKED and planning on buying a season pass! It was great! Layla had a ton of fun! Here's 2 blurry pictures of it! (She was running around like crazy)

Layla & Daddy making something!

Chilling in a canoe! We played for quite awhile then it was breakdown mode when we left.
:( Poor toddler!

Saturday, I went Thrifting with my Mom. I didn't find much, a mirror for Layla's big girl room and a white vase thing with blue flowers on it. But when I washed it in the dishwasher my dishwasher ate the flowers off it.

Sunday... We went grocery shopping... I think that's about it.

Monday: Layla and I went out to Aprill's so the girls could play. Then we came home and lil Miss decided not to nap... So as I mentioned yesterday, we went to Home Depot and another thrift store then home to make dinner.

This was Layla on the way home from school yesterday. She kept saying "it's really REALLY Sunny out today Mommy!" (Yes, I took this while sitting at a stop light..)

After the kiddo went to bed last night I made two little pillows!
They are little and a little lumpy.... I'll have to fix that. And I need about 3 more to make my bed look compete.

Last week when Bren was here she bought me this cute flower pot it was blooming so pretty this morning so I snapped a few pictures!

.
This one smells amazing!!!!!
