A Wedding in the Snow!

Saturday our really good friends Rick and Jenn got married at Elkins Resort on Priest Lake. It was beautiful! And oh so cold but way more beautiful and fun! Saturday morning my Mom and Tom came by so Tom could finish my fireplace mantel! (YAY!!!) And so they could go shopping and watch Layla for the night. Around 11am Ben and I started the 2 hour trek to Priest Lake. This lake is amazing! Rumored to be so deep they’ve never found the bottom of it! Also rumored to have vacation homes to Tom Cruise and Ben Stein. Anyways it’s awesome!

The view at the lodge!
Once we got there we were happy to already see a lot of out friends out and about. We rented Cabin #4
·         3 Bedrooms: 3 Queen Beds, 1 Double Bed
  • Sleeps up to 8 people.
  • Creek side cabin
  • Fireplace
We shared the cabin with Becca, Toby, Russell and Joey. I literally walked in and my smile did not leave my face for days! It was so much fun! Once the rest of the group got there we started to pre funk and dance around the cabin!
The ceilings were SO short in this cabin! It was crazy! It made me feel tall!
The wedding was supposed to start at 4pm but really started around 5ish not a big deal at all. We were all having a great time! The wedding was so beautiful! I love it when the Groom cries; I think it is the sweetest thing! (Ben, for the record did not cry)
Lovely Bride!
After the wedding we enjoyed some amazing food and drinks, followed by some cabin hopping and a bon fire by the lake! An amazing night! A great little get away for everyone!

Lights @ Mainto

Friday night we went to Manito Park to see 30,000 lights! It was cool but left us wanting more. We thought the whole park was going to be covered with lights but they only had a green house that was decked out. It got us out of the 15 degree weather (holy burr) and we walked around some pretty lights:

(Excuse Layla's hair, it was up really cool before she went to school something must of happened to it though)

After that we drove down our Christmas Tree lane which... sucked! I thought it was a given that if you lived on a street called Christmas Tree Lane you had to go all out. Yeah not so much.  After that we went to dinner then home to clean. Saturday my Mom picked up Layla and Ben and I headed to Elkins Resort for a very beautiful winter wedding! More on that tomorrow…

Happy Friday!

Today I am leaving work early, grabbing my Bestie Jen and heading to see this:

We normally always go at midnight, but this year we slacked off on buying tickets and it was all sold out.

But I thnk today will work out better. I am beyond excited!

Have a great weekend!

Nail Polish!

I freaking love to paint my nails! Like love it! I make a big “to-do” about it, get comfy (normally in bed), make sure I pee, turn on some trashy TV (Tuesday it was 90210) and paint! It’s really calming to me, unless I’m doing the backwards French tip which I am having a hell of a time figuring out. I think I need to paint the bottom coat one night then the top coat the next cause I can never seem to let it dry enough. Anyways lately I have been doing an accent nail; I’m kind of digging it.
Yeah I need some clean up, but it was like 10:30pm when I finished last night. I need to start earlier. It's a deep purple with a purple and blue sparkle on the accent nail.

I keep my nails pretty short, my brother is a janitor and he has me freaked out about stuff getting under them. Thanks, Eddie!

Starbucks

Something wonderful happened today (& bad) I stopped by Starbucks and saw that they have their Christmas drinks out! I have a slight obsession with the Caramel Brulee Latte! It's amazing! (& oh so many calories)

This returning favorite is a combination of creamy, rich caramel brulée sauce, espresso, and steamed milk.  It's topped with whipped cream and shimmery pieces of crunchy caramel topping—just like the crème brulée topping that was its inspiration.

Mmmmmm...

I also saw this little tidbit:

I think they should have done this thru next weekend! I know a lot of Black Friday shoppers who would have loved this!

Veterans Day

Have a wonderful day! I am home today for a much needed Mommy & Layla day! Today she said she wants to take a little nap and go downstairs (to her playroom), I can totally handle that!

Fireplace...

So I finally finished the one of the hardest, most annoying projects ever! I may or may not have hit it with a paint brush. This thing has so many cracks and holes it was hard. Anyways onto the pictures!

Here's the before, I think I might have taken this when we were first viewing the house. Love nacho cheese walls:

 During...

 And after!

 Another one!

And an up close of the craziness that is fake rocks...

So while I think it's better I don't think it's what I want... I have added some twig branches to it and it's styled a little more then it is in these pictures but it's still off. (I've been trying to take a picture of it but this daylight savings thing is messing up the light in my house, maybe tomorrow when I'm off work) My amazing Step Dad had a mantel made for me so I'm hoping that will be just what he needs. I am so excited to decorate a mantel!

Wedding Sneak Peak

I realized I never said anything about my BBF Becca's wedding. It was Oct 8th and it went off without a hitch! It was so so much fun! And everything was so beautiful!

Here's a few (very few) pictures I've gotten to see so far. I must say Layla was a perfect flower girl! I was so proud!

I'll do as full post when I have more pictures.

Halloween!

Layla decided she wanted to be Milli from Team Umizoomi months ago! And of course  they do not have Umizoomi costumes anywhere! So I enlisted my Mom to help make a Milli costume!
Here’s the inspiration, the cute pink one:

And here's how Layla turned out! My Mom made a simple pillow case dress (fabric was $2.14) I found the pink beanie at Wal Mart ($1.50) and a flower stencil and pink craft paint at Hobby Lobby ($1.99 & $.67) (These pic's are from Friday night at her Preschools Fall Fest)

That smile cracks me up!

Hard to tell but her pig tails are thru the hat. I think it turned out great, only problem no one knew who she was. Oh well I guess! She loved it and that's all that matters!

And last night actual Halloween, she decided she wanted to change it up and go as Tinkerbell. We bought her this dress up outfit last year on Black Friday and it just now fits!

Pumpkin Patch!

Again I have been MIA forever! Gees time just goes! A few weeks ago we went to the pumpkin patch! Were lucky to live about 10 minutes from 50+ farms that do every veggie or fruit that you can imagine! It’s a lot of fun to go there and have our pick of pumpkin patches!
Anyways on to the pictures!
Nice pumpkin Ben!

Cutie Pie!

Pouty face!

I love these two!

Layla's pumpkin! She drew it and I craved it for her.

Quick Note

When I got home Friday my pretty fall wreath was just a black picture frame... Apparently you can't do this with hot glue in a place that warms up. The sun reheated my hot glue and all my leaves fell off... I'm pretty bummed about it but I might re do it and hang it up later in the year.

Fall Wreath

Last night I had about 15 minutes after dinner and I decided the make a cute wreath that I had seen on Thrifty Decor Chick, it's super simple and she has a great tutorial here

Yesterday on my lunch break I ran to the $1.00 store and bought these and a simple 8x10 frame.

I bought 3 packages but I only used maybe a full one, but it was nice to have the different colors in each bag.

About 15 minutes and a few hot glue gun burns later I had this one my front door:

I really like it! I think the fall colors look great on my black door.

And a little follow up on project that I think is going to be the death of me:
Painting the fake rock fire place. I haven't gotten far, and it's freaking hard! It's more of a gray color then what the picture shows, so far I am indifferent about it. I kind of like it and I kind of don't. We'll see if I finish it or just tear it down and start over with drywall and tile maybe.

Have a great weekend! Were headed camping! It will more then likely be our last trip out, it's already starting to get cold in the PNW.

Busy...

I'm not sure when life got so busy! I think it happened when my BFF got engaged... (Two weeks until the wedding!) Or when I had a baby 3 years ago. Anyways since my last post, I've thrown the best Bachelorette party on earth, gone camping, met a super cool new couple friend, worked a lot, played a lot, celebrated some birthdays and painted a huge chalkboard!

I know it's not a new thing around the blog world but it took me forever to talk Ben into letting me paint a wall in our kitchen into a chalkboard. It's been done since last Thursday and we've been having a blast with it.

This is what we started with, I painted the little chalkboard awhile ago and it had a big frame around it. We quickly realized it wasn't enough! When my Dad & Step Mom were here in August they convinced Ben that we needed the whole wall covered!
(Layla loves to see her name written out! She has a thing for "L's" and writes them everywhere!)

I kept a small boarder about it. Here's Layla trying it out. The big mess in the middle is where the little one was.

My first Masterpiece! I have a thing for Palm Trees, reminds me of growing up in CA.

I've also started a little fall decorating that I hope to finish up tonight or tomorrow. And I have plans to paint this dude:  Rockford you are driving me crazy!
(Taken while we were painting the walls I do not miss that nacho cheese color!)

It's not real rock, and I figure if it turns out awful I'll take it off and drywall it! My awesome Step Dad (I got super lucky with step parents) is in the process of making me a mantel! I can not freaking wait!

I'm Back!

So I missed the SUYL... Vacation was crazy busy! But more on that later. I am finally done with party craziness August! The last party was a Bridal Shower for BBF Becca. Get ready for some pictures!

Prep! Gluing tea cups together, this one was my favorite!

A super cute banner I that was made by Pluff Mudd Studio's she also made the invitations.

Table set up, right before the guests showed up the wind blew and knocked over a lot of my glued teacups.

A few more of the table and a few guests. The guest of honor is i the white hat.

The night before the party at oh about 10pm I realized Ben had forgotten the tables he was supposed to borrow from his work. Panic mode set in but after some creative thinking, a dresser, a table top and  two speakers we were able to figure it out.

The food table, made with an old table top and two speakers

Drinks! This is going to be Layla's dresser but I haven't gotten around to refinishing it yet. So I lined the top drawer with extra table plastic cloth and filled it with ice and drinks. It was a big hit!

TP dresses!

Becca and I have known each other since the 6th grade. My Dad and Step mom were sweet and sent her a huge flower bouquet!

All in all it turned out well. It was extra hot that day so we were fanning with some plates but everyone had a great time!
